Project Context​

No One Home

 

No One Home began during a visit to Albano 5 in Landskrona in 2023, connected to a pop-up exhibition in which Chang was participating with another artist. With access to the building, they spent time with their own cameras, moving through its emptied rooms where time had frozen since 1960/70 and photographing the traces left behind.

 

At the time, Chang had no intention of developing the photographs into an exhibition. They were made from curiosity and an instinct to record what remained.

 

Returning to the images during and after her Master's studies in Communication for Development in 2024–25, Chang began to read them differently. Questions of memory, place and change gave the photographs another layer of meaning. The rooms had remained the same, but her relationship to the images had shifted.

 

The series considers what a place continues to carry after everyday life has moved elsewhere, and how photographs themselves can become part of the way places and experiences are remembered over time.
